Myaap & Chicken P Are “Actin Up” On Their New Single

One of the dominant lanes of hip-hop right now is trap rap without a doubt. A subset of the long-running subgenre that has become increasingly more popular is ratchet rap. The female MCs have grown this area quite substantially over the past couple of years or so. Artists like Sexyy Red, Sukihana, Erica Banks, Stunna Girl, and City Girls, are just a handful of them. Someone you will want to add to that list is Myaap. She hails from the unsuspecting city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and she has been gaining some steam recently. The last and only time we have covered her work happened back in January.

Myaap worked alongside MG Sleepy for a quirky trap cut called “I Ain’t Hidin.” It featured one of the catchier cadences we have heard all year, and it is one we encourage you give a try. As for “Actin Up,” Myaap is teaming up with another up and comer, Chicken P. Where we think “I Ain’t Hidin” works for us is the creativity and carefree nature.

Listen To “Actin Up” By Myaap & Chicken P

“Actin Up” feels more like a carbon copy of what Sexxy Red is doing right now. That of which is the nonchalant, booty shaking club bangers. While Myaap is certainly not the only artist to present her art in this way, deviating from her avant-garde-like style might be something to reconsider. This is not a bad song by any means, but it could get lost in the shuffle.

What are your thoughts on “Actin Up” by Myaap & Chicken P? Is this the best track she has released as of late, why or why not? Where do you rank this song amongst the rest of her entire discography? Do you think she has what it takes to thrive in the rap game? Is she the hottest rapper out of Wisconsin right now? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Myaap. Chris Brown & Bryson Tiller Play Homewrecker On “Run Away”

Chris Brown and Bryson Tiller are two of the most recognizable voices in R&B, especially of the 2010s. Both of them have plenty of hits between each other and have some of the most effortlessly smooth voices. However, their talents do not really meet up on a song. In fact, it has only happened twice in their respective careers.

Over the weekend, the Midwestern balladeers linked up for “Run Away,” a bonus track off Breezy’s 11:11 (Deluxe). The Virginia native dropped the original version of the album back in November of last year with features from Davido, Future, Byron Messia, and more. On top of Bryson Tiller, Brown also tapped guests Lil Wayne, Joyner Lucas, Tee Grizzley, Mario, and Davido once more.

The song that has been gaining the most buzz so far from the deluxe has been “Freak” due to Chris’s shots sent at Quavo. But fans have been gravitating toward “Run Away” due to the sheer firepower on it. Unfortunately, the track is pretty average overall as it really does not sound anything too different from the typical contemporary R&B formula. But we still encourage you to give it a listen and see if you mess with it.

What are your thoughts on “Run Away” by Chris Brown and Bryson Tiller? Is this the best track on 11:11 (Deluxe), why or why not? Where do you rank this collaboration against their past collaboration? Should Bryson and Chris continue to work together? Did the deluxe ruin or make the original better? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. I know you rock with me right now (Love you rock with me, rock with me)
You know I can’t stand to be here without (Please stop with the nonsense, uh-uh)
All this second guessing’s filling me with doubt (Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh)

“Check” By Young Thug Turns 9: It’s Still An Essential Trap Cut

If there is a big three in terms of trap music and/or Southern hip-hop, Young Thug is more than worthy to enter those discussions. The Atlanta, Georgia native is a living legend now, but early on his career, his style was seen as avant-garde. His unconventional cadence and experimental approach to the subgenre turned a lot of people off, especially hip-hop purists. It took some time, but fans started to come around to his artistry and he grown to be one of most influential names we have going today. Part of the reason for that is because of songs from Young Thug like “Check.”

Barter 6, Thug’s debut solo mixtape under 300 Entertainment, officially turns nine years old today and we thought it would be fun to take a journey to the past. However, this song certainly does not sound like it belongs there. Due to the simplicity of the beat from London On Da Track, “Check” still feels as if the record dropped this year. Everything just clicks, especially Thugger, who has one of his more iconic intros to any song in his career.

On top of that, he flows like a hot knife through butter over the woozy, slow-mo bass and 808s, as well the chunky kick drums. This also set up a great working relationship between Thug and London. They would go on to make “Lifestyle,” “With That” (on the same project), “Digits,” “Memo,” and so many countless classics. Be sure to relisten to “Check” by Thug and its iconic music video above.

What are your thoughts on “Check” by Young Thug? Is this the best track on Barter 6, why or why not? Where do you rank this song amongst his entire discography? Do you view this is an essential trap song? Do you still bump this song? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Future & A$AP Rocky Are On Some Devious Behavior On Metro Boomin’s “Show Of Hands”

With all of the disses sent at Drake it can honestly be a little difficult to keep track of them all. However, A$AP Rocky’s on WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU might be one of the more memorable. The reason for that is because Metro Boomin, Future, and Rocky put together a high-octane track with “Show of Hands.” On it the A$AP Mob member calls out Drizzy for essentially obsessing over Rihanna, something he wishes he had.

N****s in they feelings over women, what, you hurt or somethin’? / I smash before you birthed, son, Flacko hit it first, son.” It is a pretty devious and harsh diss, but the next one does not hit as hard. “Heard you dropped your latest s*** / Funny how it just came and went (Ha-ha-ha).” This sees Flacko make fun of Drake’ last album For All The Dogs and how it was a pretty mid release in his catalog. But it comes across as contradictory since Rocky has kept fans starving for his first album since 2018.

But putting the heavily discussed sneak disses, “Show of Hands” is one of the strongest and hard-hitting cuts on the album. Appearing on side B featuring throwback-like Future cuts from the early 2010s, Metro lays down a very bassy and 808 heavy instrumental with a killer East Coast vibe. It fits the woozy and smoky vibes that Rocky typical brings and Future slots in perfectly on the beat. Be sure to check out the song with the link above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “Show of Hands” by Metro Boomin, Future, and A$AP Rocky? Is this the best track on WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU, why or why not? Does A$AP have the strongest feature on this album, or out of both? How do you feel about the shots at Drake on this track? Rick Ross Claps Back At Drake On “Champagne Moments”

2024 has been a messy year. The cold war between Drake and the rest of the hip-hop world went nuclear after Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” diss, and since then it’s been open season on the 6 God. Future, Metro Boomin, The Weeknd and ASAP Rocky have all taken aim at Drake, but the rapper that has most hip-hop fans conflicted is Rick Ross. Drake and Ross have made classic records together for over a decade. Ross’ new single, however, makes it clear that they will be enemies from now on.

Ross teased the track “Champagne Moments” during a DJ Akademiks live stream on April 13, but it’s now available on streaming platforms with beefed up drums and artwork with the hashtag “#BBLDrizzy.” The rapper furthered the disrespect by tagging Birdman and OVO Records when he posted the song on Instagram. The beat for “Champagne Moments” is classic Rick Ross, with lush strings and a mafioso vibe that suits the rapper’s husky flow. Ross accuses Drake of ripping off Lil Wayne’s style, and claims the Toronto rapper needed his co-sign to establish credibility.

Rick Ross Rebrands Drake As “BBLDrizzy”

These lines are debatable, especially since Drake has been featured on all of Ross’ biggest hits, but the thing that will keep fans buzzing about “Champagne Moments” is the outro. He claims that Drake got a nose job and cosmetic surgery on his body. Ross also goes after Drake’s perceived “blackness,” or lack their-of, which has been a talking point since Drake blew up. Ross doesn’t body Drake, but he does pick at a few scabs, and the production is solid.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Champagne Moments,” by Rick Ross? Do you think he bested Drake? Do you think Ross’ claims about Drake are true? Will the 6 God issue a response? We want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Summrs Delivers A Multi-faceted Banger “Sneaky Link/Love That 4 Us”

Overall, there were not too many new albums and singles dropping this past weekend. Outside of the Metro Boomin and Future project WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU, mainstream artists remained quiet. It was a slightly more eventful week for lesser-known names, but that does not mean there was not quality to be had. Just take Summrs and his new song “Sneaky link/Love that 4 us.” For those wondering, you can find it on his new album B4DARAVEN.

This is a shorter release with just seven tracks, but fans of his do not need to panic. This will not be his only release of 2024. Word on the street is that this is just a precursor for the much longer TALE OF DA RAVEN, which still does not have a release date yet. For now though, let us discuss “Sneaky link/Love that 4 us.”

As you can see this is a two-part song and it is done pretty well. Summrs’ lyrics are nothing to write home about. But the real winner is the instrumental. The first half feels almost early Lil Uzi Vert-like with its playful and light trap beat. However, it seamlessly transforms into a guitar solo, which then leads into a slightly a funkier portion with trap elements.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “Sneaky link/Love that 4 us” by Summrs? Is this the best track from the rapper as of late, why or why not? Where do you rank this amongst the rest of the songs off of B4DARAVEN? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Midwxst & DC The Don Reunite For Reflective Single “FIRE”

If we had to name artists that impressed us thoroughly in 2023, it would be a pretty long list. One of them we would have to include would be midwxst. He is not necessarily a new kid on the block, but he definitely snuck up on us. Last year, the Indiana multi-hyphenate went and dropped his debut album E3 and it saw him operate in the lanes of hyper pop, R&B, hip-hop, and etc. He really went for it all and it paid off. Fairly soon, he will be following that up with another project sometime this year and to promote it, midwxst is back with a new single “FIRE.”

This is not the first track that is rumored to be on BACK IN ACTION 4.0. In late February, midwxst dropped “mistakes” with 9lives, which was a cut about toxic relationships. Similarly, “FIRE” explores those themes, but also sees him reflect on how he has been struggling to feel happy with himself. He is also having a hard time admitting his faults, especially when he says, “I’ve had problems since I was a youngin’ / Need to cut out the lies and the frontin’.”

Like “mistakes,” midwxst has decided to tap a guest. This time fellow emo rapper and singer DC The Don is joining him. These two have a solid work history together, featuring on a couple of songs for each other. While their voices do sound similar back to back, DC does pen a solid verse. “My ex-b**** just wanna be famous / ‘Cause she a crash-out, hit ninety while she lane switch / Afraid to die, but she don’t wanna die nameless (Ooh).”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “FIRE” by midwxst and DC The Don? Is this the best track from either rapper as of late, why or why not? Does this get you excited for midwxst’s upcoming project BACK IN ACTION 4.0? Is this their best collaboration after hearing this? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding midwxst and DC The Don. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the music world.

Quotable Lyrics:

You know what they say, “Play with fire, you get burned”
Come away with nothin’ from the lessons that I learn
I been runnin’ ’round in circles, I been stuck at every turn
If you don’t wan’ tell the truth, then you can happily be adjourned
Ruin everything I touch, sometimes, I feel like I’m a germ
I’m not good at listenin’, no, I don’t like to come to terms

Metro Boomin, Future, & The Weeknd Bring Immaculate Vibes To “We Still Don’t Trust You”

With both WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU and WE DON’T TRUST YOU out now, fans are going to compare which record is better. Some may even go song for song and debate which is better. One matchup that will be tough for many to choose a winner for are the self-titled openers. They are very different instrumentally, but both do set the tone tremendously for their respective tracklists.

At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference, but Metro Boomin, Future, and The Weeknd certainly did their thing. “We Still Don’t Trust You” sees the St. Louis producer go into a lane he has not dabbled in since 2020. There is heavy synth pop inspiration, and it sounds like something he helped craft for The Weeknd on After Hours. The consistent criticism from the community about this track so far has been the lack of substance from Future and The Weeknd.

For us though, the intro on this album is looking to be more cinematic and otherworldly and the minimal contributions from the superstars works in this case. MIKE DEAN is also back in the booth with Metro and we can definitely hear his transcendent synths across the instrumental. We are also enjoying this because Metro is exploring different sounds and building on something he got a bit of start on four years ago. After hearing what he can do across an entire album, we would love to see Metro continue to experiment with it.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “We Still Don’t Trust You” by Future, Metro Boomin, and The Weeknd? Is this the best track from either WE DON’T TRUST YOU or WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU, why or why not? Out of all of The Weeknd’s guest appearances is this his strongest one, why or why not? Is this their best collaboration after hearing this? Which album are bumping more right now? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section.
