Gucci Mane Returns To His Old Ways On “06 Gucci” Ft. 21 Savage & DaBaby

It’s a Zone 6 thing on Gucci Mane’s new single. The Atlanta native returned this morning with the release of “06 Gucci,” a collaboration alongside fellow East Side Atlanta rapper 21 Savage and DaBaby. GuWop takes a trip back to his stomping grounds for the video for his latest record, which recreates iconic looks from projects like The Trap House and the video “My Kitchen.” Ambezza and Nik Dean’s suspenseful production serves as a level playing field for Gucci to lock in with two artists he undoubtedly influenced.

Ultimately, “06 Gucci” serves as an ode to Gucci’s longevity in rap but as the title suggests, he finds himself returning to his old ways, for better or for worse. “I feel like it’s me in ’06 and ’07, ’08, and even ’09/ Still hard to kill, the last n***a tried, go ask him, he didn’t survive,” he raps with what seems to be another jab at Pookie Loc. Still, he issues a firm reminder of his brilliance before his transformation and the clone conspiracies. “Geeked up, I stay out of my mind/ Still was ahead of my time,” he continues, a bar that looks back at Twitter’s glory days.

Gucci Mane’s Still In His Prime

Between compilations like So Ice Boyz: The Finale and So Icy Christmas and putting the 1017 roster in focus, Gucci Mane continued to give fans an abundance of music. Though we haven’t received a full solo body of work since Ice Daddy, he delivered promising singles like “King Snipe” ft. Kodak Black and his ode to the late Migos member, “Letter To Takeoff.” Hopefully, these records indicate what he might have in store next.

Meanwhile, 21 Savage continues an epic run into the 2020s. In November, he and Drake blessed fans with their joint project, Her Loss, and later this year, they’ll hit the road together in support of the effort. We also anticipate that he’ll come through with a new solo album sometime soon, as well, especially since we’re nearing the 5th anniversary of i am > i was. As for DaBaby, he closed out 2022 with the release of “Joc In 06” and recently joined forces with Rob49 for “Hate it Or Love It.”

He get hit the K if he move wrong
